We have been bothering about this decision for several months. It’s extremely difficult to say goodbye, especially after working on Mailplane for so long. Thank you! What’s next? At this time, we no longer sell licenses for Mailplane. We have already started working on the next major version, but we do not feel that we can stick our heads in the sand and happily continue to sell licenses and develop new features. That’s why we came to the painful decision to face the truth and pull the plug. But it’s a red flag for us to bypass something that Google sees as a security improvement. Only Google knows … During the 15 years we’ve been working with Mailplane, we’ve developed many solutions and hacks to make Gmail more fun on your Mac. It can last for years or be over tomorrow. After all, we are happy users of Mailplane as well. We already have a solution in place and try to keep Mailplane running for as long as possible. For the last 6 months we have tried everything to find an official solution with Google, but without success. Although there is a solution for apps that work with the Gmail API, unfortunately none are available for specialized browsers like Mailplane which is built on top of Gmail’s web interface. Why? Google has started blocking embedded browsers from the login page. ![]() It’s been around for almost 15 years and was one of the first specialized browsers for Gmail. Mailplane manages Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts accounts instead of cluttering the browser window.
